Gao's unique approach to The Satellite Flare lies in his choice of natural materials, which provide flexibility and a sense of extension to the space. By modifying the abrupt beams and incorporating adequate division and cabinets, the design achieves a sense of broadness and completeness. The use of blank doors allows for consistency throughout the house when closed, while a long table in the kitchen area adds a touch of completion and consistency.
The realization of The Satellite Flare involves the deployment of tinted mirrors, light-colored wood textures, systematic cabinets, recessed pointing in wood textures, linear lighting, roller blinds, and the inherent nice lighting. These materials extend seamlessly to the ground, walls, and ceiling, diminishing the towering feeling created by the abrupt beams. The symmetrical color scheme corresponds to the simple yet elegant style of the house.
Technical specifications include the combination of storage cabinets and daily needs, transforming turning spots into functional domains for storage. Cabinets in a grey color tone at the entrance express a fresh sense, while blank doors with built-in cabinets, refrigerator, and storage space create a fresh mood throughout the construction.
The Satellite Flare interacts with its inhabitants by incorporating light tone colors to create a fresher space. The combination of light veneers, delicate brick wall textures, and light grey color tones preserves functionality while maintaining a sense of harmony. The transformation of beams and turning points into storage spaces enhances flexibility and visual perception.
The project was completed in Taiwan, and extensive research was conducted to ensure the space aligned with the client's preference for simplicity and modern style. The use of natural materials, fresh color paints, and timber establishes a delicate configuration and sense of layers. Open storage cabinets were strategically placed on corners and abrupt beams to enhance functionality and visual appeal.
One of the challenges faced in The Satellite Flare was the presence of numerous huge beams. Gao overcame this obstacle by carefully planning the configuration, lighting, and flow lines. By placing wood cabinets on the beams and columns and modifying the horizontal columns and tube lights with an oblique cut, the pressure and abruptness caused by the beams and columns were eliminated, improving both functionality and visual perception.
The design of The Satellite Flare focuses on creating a space for interaction among its inhabitants. The long table in the kitchen serves as a dining and multifunctional equipment, acting as the core of the space design. Additionally, storage space is incorporated under the long table, and its placement between the public and private areas allows for dining, homework discussions, and meetings.
The Satellite Flare is a winner of the Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2022. This prestigious award recognizes well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. The design's integration of industry best practices and competent technical characteristics contributes to a better world.
